A growth mindset is "the belief that an individual's most basic abilities and skills can be developed through dedication and hard work—brains and talent are just the starting point."
A fixed mindset is "the belief that an individual's basic abilities and skills, their intelligence and their talents, are just fixed traits."
Developing a growth mindset will help you be successful in your Business from the StartUp phase! Here are 10 ways you can develop one:
Be willing to accept accountability. Demonstrating accountability is crucial for your success. It shows you are responsible for your actions and your team will respectfully follow your lead. Making accountability a part of your core values means you hold yourself accountable for your goals & commitments whether it’s meeting a client/customers needs or providing the necessary resources for your team.
Mind your Business. Focus on what you have and not what everyone else is doing. Trailblazers change the world and you are a trailblazer if you chose to be an Entrepreneur. Looking at what everyone else is doing will slow you down because it takes the focus away from what your purpose is.
Be the best at what you do. We live in an era where there are information highways everywhere. Show off your expertise by striving to become extremely good at what you do. This can mean placing your focus on a specific area expertise you are the strongest at and improving your education and experience in it.
Failures are Inevitable. Regardless of how much you prepare, failures will come. Just don’t hold onto them. Your failures are lessons. They can also be our friend. Failures teach us to grow, change, and be resilient in whatever we choose to do. Use your failures as a tool to help you acheive success quickly by learning from them and teaching others as well.
Do the work. To be great, you must dedicate time for your process. This means do the work everyday until you hit your goals. Many Entrepreneurs start Businesses that fail quickly due to lack of productivity. There will always be a next…a next level…a next goal…so continuously do the work and measure your success to see if you’re hitting your KPIs.
Do what you love. When you truly love what you do it never feels like work. So when you serve those who want, need, & can afford what you offer, the value exchange is aligned. But most importantly, allow your love for what you help you to stay purpose driven and serve only those who deserve you.
Money isn’t the point. Focusing on money doesn’t bring more of it. Busines leaders who are money driven are never fully satisfied and often lost Business quickly. You want your customers to feel like your home is their home. Create value and talk about what they care about. Let your customers show their gratitude for how you help them with your products/services. Create raving fans by creation value for them time and time again. Trust me…the money will come!!
Be results driven. Don’t be a perfectionist. Nothing is ever perfect, so if you’re waiting for perfection, you’ll be waiting forever. To be clear, no one wants perfection anyway. Your only mission is to create the solutions for the problems your audience is experiencing in the moment they are having the most difficulty. If you wait for the perfect product or service to give them, they will buy from your competitors instead.
Have an attitude of Gratitude. Gratitude is essential for a growth mindset. When you appreciate what you have, you are now open to receiving more. When you demonstrate gratitude for your joyous moments with family, friends, clients/customers, health, opportunities, challenges, support systems, etc. this will emanate out to the world and you will receive more in return.
Know your Why & identify your Purpose. Your why is going to always steer you back to purpose. If you ask yourself “why” you are doing something and the answer doesn’t align with your purpose, then you may need to reevaluate your reasoning and priorities. Your purpose is your backbone to self-awareness which has the power to align your will and humility.
A growth mindset will help you enhance your skills and abilities believe your believe you can. And will. It shows that failure are not threats, but rather opportunities to learn and grow.
However, a growth mindset is a frame of mind. It allows you to become the leader in every area of your life. It encourages you to take control of your negative thoughts and limitations as if they do not exist.
